Paintings, glass, pottery and metal art works, as well as jewelry, textile and prints, illustrate in a fascinating display, divided according to themes, the artistic, commercial, knowledge-sharing and technological relations between Venice and Near Eastern nations (Arab, Persian, Turkish) over nearly a millennium. Standing out among the over 200 works on display are several 14th- to 18th-century Venetian painting masterpieces: from Bellini to Carpaccio, Veronese to Tiepolo. The show, mounted first by the New York Metropolitan Museum, is a product of a collaboration of the American museum, the Venice Civic Museums and the Institut du Monde Arabe of Paris.
