VENICE FILM FESTIVAL
August 29th to September 8th, 2008: 65th Venice Film Festival
The line-up of the 65th Venice Film Festival is now public.
The 65th Venice International Film Festival, organised by the Venice Biennale, will take place on the Venice Lido from August 27th to September 6th 2008. The aim of the Festival is to encourage the awareness and the promotion of all the various aspects of international cinema as art, entertainment and industry, in a spirit of freedom and tolerance. Marco Müller will be the director of the upcoming edition, continuing the work he began in 2004.
Along with Enrico Magrelli, the Director’s right hand for cultural programming, sixteen consultants will participate in the selection and search process for the 65th Venice Film Festival.
The 2008 Selection Committee will include: Violetta Bellocchio, Paolo Bertolin, Marie-Pierre Duhamel, Claudio Masenza and Alberto Pezzotta.
The Consultants/Correspondents around the world will be: Maria Barbieri and Maria Ruggieri (China), Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan and Margherita Di Paola (USA), Luciano Barisone (South and Central America), Dora Bouchoucha (Africa and the Arab world), Cecilia Cossio (India), Fabio Fumagalli (Austria, Benelux, Portugal, Switzerland), Babak Karimi (Iran), Alëna Shumakova (Balkans, Eastern Europe and the territories of the former Soviet Union), and Mikiko Tomita (Japan).
